Just last week we had Earth Week in our class! We decided to incorporate different activities that allowed students to explore and learn about Earth Day. We talked about why it was important and different ways we could help the earth. Things like turning off the electricity, riding a bike or walking to school, not wasting water, not littering, recycling, and composting. I am curious to know, are they trying these things at home? Let me know in the comments. We tried to incorporate earth day into many different centres. For art we got them to paint their interpretation of the earth. In the science centre we had some pollution happen. Some oil spilled into a bucket of water! Oh no! We had the students try different tools and strategies to try and get the oil out of the water. We read stories about earth day, and some students were so excited about Earth Week, they wrote their own stories during free play! During outdoor education we got the students to pick up litter to demonstrate the importance of keeping the earth clean. Hopefully after this week the earth is a little bit more happier and healthier! |
