For an introduction to science we decided to have a little fun with eggs around the weeks of Easter! We started with a raw egg in vinegar the Thursday before the long weekend to see what would happen when we got back. Some of their observations listed were: " The outer shell came off " , " It got bigger", " It's squishy", "It's slimy". We then decided to test to see how durable it was if we dropped it from different heights. We found out it was bouncy, but that we couldn't bounce it more than the height of the container. When we dropped the egg and it burst and the membrane separated from the yolk and egg white. The kids commented on the smell and texture when given the chance to touch it. We then decided to do the experiment again while we were present, to compare the amount of days it would take to loose it's shell. Our first conclusion was it took six days, our second conclusion was it took 3 days. We then recorded our observations once again and took our experiment further using the same egg that was in the vinegar and placed it in corn syrup, then in dyed water. We also took a separate raw egg and observed what happened to it when placed in salt water.
