For the last two weeks in our dramatic play centre we have been learning about hibernation. We discussed what we already knew about hibernation and made a list of what we needed to add to our centre. The children labeled our hibernation area to include a den and a cave. We discussed that in a cave there is water that drips, so some used their fine motor skills to trace, cut and tie together "dripping water". They also named the animals that hibernate and chose an animal to be and made their own masks to wear. We agreed that we needed mud or dirt for those animals that hibernate in such an environment. The students were preparing for hibernation by gathering food, leaves and hay to make sure they are nice and warm for the winter season. |
