For colour matching students were given a palette of coloured paint samples. They had to go out with their group and match one of the colours to something outside. They found flowers, soils, rocks and leaves that matched the paint samples. For the ant feeding, students had to guess what types of foods the ants would like the most. They had to choose one small piece of food item from their lunch to feed to the ants. Once they got outside they laid the plates down so the ants could choose their food. Students had to predict what food they would like the most. They then had to keep track of how many times the ants ate their food. It was great to observe the ants. One group observed an ant take a large piece of cookie and drag it to their hole. It is amazing how strong ants are! What a great learning experience. |
