| During the past 2 weeks the children have been very busy collaborating to build box cars.We began with plain old boxes, some books for resources, tools and piping. Our project has now developed into a window of great learning opportunities! The children have been applying problem solving skills when building their box cars, from how to add a trunk that will stay on to figuring out what their cars are missing. They added details like radios; counting how many buttons it should have, what the shape of car radios are and where in the car they should place it (will it fit to size). Incorporating some of the skills we have been learning in our math unit. Through this inquiry they have been developing their foundation in representational art using various materials. In order to expand on their interest and learning we as a class, have decided to take a field trip! We will be going to the Auto Shop at Canadian Tire on Friday, October 17th. Stay tuned for more pictures and an update about our trip to Canadian Tire! |
