When starting our unit on community and community jobs, we decided to change our dramatic play to The Police Station. It has been a big hit with the kids! We have been doing, art, writing and science centres to help support our inquiry learning. In art we have been learning about finger printing. We used ink pads to create fingerprints, so we can add them to our files in our police station. Fingerprints tell us "if you are a good guy or a bad guy" (Ainsley). We have been making pictures by using only our fingerprints. We have also been making badges. In writing students have been writing "wanted" and "missing" ads to place in our Police Station. Students had to describe their object/person using descriptive words, expanding their language. In science we had a crime scene! Someone stole our plant! Using our detective skills and the clues left in the classroom we found out it was the principal, who took our plant!
